Tornado confirmed in Tangipahoa Parish Wednesday evening

TANGIPAHOA PARISH, La. - Severe weather left south Louisiana rain soaked and under multiple storm warning on the evening of Wednesday, Feb. 8. 
The National Weather Service (NWS) around 5:59 p.m. confirmed that a tornado passed through the parish, just north of the town of Tangipahoa. 

620PM Tornado Warning cancelled for Tangipahoa parish. Other showers & storms will continue over the parish but the severe threat has diminished now. Other storms are still severe in parts of the area so please keep an eye on local media or other ways you get your weather info!

The all-clear regarding the tornado was given by 6:20 p.m., but weather experts warned that other storms were still severe in parts of the area and locals were asked to tune in to weather reports from local news stations to stay safe.  
As of 8:45 p.m., Louisiana's capital region is experiencing light rain and the temperature is around 73 degrees, according to the NWS.
