Bayou Trésors Staff BATON ROUGE, La. - Experts say cardiovascular disease kills more women than all forms of cancer combined, and heart disease remains the leading cause of death in American men. Consistent cardiovascular checkups are essential, which is why two capital area CVS locations are providing free heart health screenings beginning Wednesday, Feb. 1. The free checkups, which are also taking place across the country, are in conjunction with February's annual observance of American Heart Month. Locally, these no-cost health screenings will be provided by healthcare workers at the two CVS locations listed below.
During the checkups, patients will be tested for cholesterol levels, blood pressure, blood glucose (or A1c for diabetes), and body mass index (BMI).
Anyone interested in this free event must download a voucher here and then schedule a screening by calling one of the two locations listed above. Click here for additional information.
