By: Bayou Trésors Staff BATON ROUGE, La. - This month, the East Baton Rouge Parish Library is welcoming author Sadeqa Johnson for an interview about her book, The House of Eve.
Guests will learn more about the award-winning author's writing process and inspiration for her new novel, which is centered around a fifteen-year-old girl named Ruby Pearsall who is on track to become the first member of her family to attend college. In the story, Ruby's future as a college graduate is threatened when her mother becomes embroiled in a clandestine love affair. The teen's dreams seem on the precipice of going up in smoke when the affair pushes Ruby back towards the state of poverty she's been desperately attempting to escape. Johnson is the award-winning author of four novels, including Yellow Wife. Her accolades include the National Book Club Award, the Phillis Wheatley Book Award, and the USA Best Book Award for Best Fiction. She is a Kimbilio Fellow, former board member of the James River Writers, and a Tall Poppy Writer.
